Following Google’s success in having ‘ungoogleable’ banned from the Swedish language because of trademark considerations, Apple is applying similar pressure on the world’s premier corporate copyright compliant country.
“Google wanted to amend the definition of the word and also have the council add a disclaimer to the list of new words to make it clear that Google is a trademark,” says the IDG News Service.
But that didn’t sit well with the council, so it “decided to remove the word.”
Now Apple is suing the Swedish Language Council.
“Apple’s Apple trademark is at the very least as famous as Google’s — in fact, it’s probably more famous,” an Apple spokes person says, snapping:
“Just because Google is Google it can’t do anything it wants, and that needs to be made crystal clear!”
