Operation ‘Trident Fury’

dolphinOperation Trident Fury, a joint joint US- Canadian operation off the coast near Vancouver, featured a  camera wielding bottlenose dolphin .

A spokesman for the  US Navy’s Marine Mammal Program said the dolphins have sonar capabilities, “unmatched by anything man made.”

This trained dolphin is used to locate submerged mines and enemy divers, which are then captured by Navy personnel,  says DVICE.

But it’s nothing new.

The program has,  “also deployed sea lions for their excellent underwater eyesight, and is looking into using Beluga whales for their acute hearing,” the story adds.

Now all they need is a pack of seek-and-destroy dogfish  to complete the menagerie 😉
