An interesting day

mecolorIt was an interesting day, yesterday.

I’ve been having trouble with my health and because I’ve already survived two heart-attacks and a stroke, I wasn’t taking any chances. There’s an ambulance station near by so my wife drove me over and pretty soon, I was on my way to the local hospital.

Despite the best efforts of the driver, it was a very bumpy ride (it’s road repair season, here on Vancouver island) and I kept wondering why the paramedic vans aren’t equipped with adequate suspension.

Putting an IV line in a patient while the ambulance churns along must be challenging.

Anyhow, after taking a brief history of my health, they asked me what meds I was on and I said cannabis was among them.

They said they’d had quite a few passengers who use marijuana medicinally.

A short while ago, I went really potty, which is to say I started using the Evil Weed as a medication for conditions related to a stroke.

Anyhow, we soon arrived  the local hospital, I was put in the care of a pretty young nurse and naturally, we, too chatted about the health benefits of marijuana.

She told me a lot of patients come through who are medical MJ users; only the day before, she’d looked after an 80-year-old man who’ turned up at the emergency department complaining of the pain following a hip replacement.

He’d been using cannabis to help with his pain but that morning, it hadn’t worked, for some reason, so he took a cab to the hospital, where he ‘d had the surgery.

Meanwhile, in spite of efforts of the drug industry, aided by various governments to keep it listed as a hard-core drug such as crack, at the behest of corporate parties, it’ll inevitably regain its ancient and rightful standing as a front line medicine.

No need to stay tuned.

It’ll happen.
