I have a more than passing interest in the special Forces, as they’re known, and I’m still on about two of the movies centering on the death of Osama bin Laden with, I’m sure even more on the way.
My brother was in the famous Special Air Service (SAS ) regiment, and my father was in the strangely named Artists Rifles, disbanded in 1945 and and resurrected in 1947 as the SAS Regiment.
I’m the wimp of the family, serving briefly in the Royal Air Force in Aden, as it was then known, and Bahrain.
The American version of the SAS, from which it draws many of its practices, is the equally famous Navy SEAL Team 6, the band of warriors who eventually killed bin Laden.
But it was a CIA crew led by a determined female agent, the glamorous (naturally 😉 Maya, played by Jessica Chastain, who ultimately pinpointed the Al Qaeda chief’s whereabouts — in the movie version, at least.
“Now, 3 US senators, ‘question the accuracy’ of at least one of the films, Zero Dark Thirty,” I posted yesterday.
Which of the 2 movies is accurate, if either of them are?
Only the CIA knows, and it’s not telling. But for thud and blunder I’d have to go with Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win ~ Mahatma Gandhi …
Hey DA: you’re assuming I knew about bin Laden’s kidney difficulties; I didn’t, but nonetheless and notwithstanding, the 2 movies are great thud and blunder fodder;)
Cheers!
