The Death of Osama bin Laden — the movie (s)

30Two movies have  lately been doing the rounds online, and they both purport to highlight Osama bin Laden’s final hours.

“The daring operation began when two US.helicopters flew in low from Afghanistan and swept into the compound where Osama bin Laden was thought to be hiding late Sunday night Pakistan time, or Sunday afternoon Washington time,” says ABC News, continuing:

“Thirty to 40 U.S. Navy SEALs disembarked from the helicopters as soon as they were in position and stormed the compound.

“The White House says they killed bin Laden and at least four others with him. The team was on the ground for only 40 minutes,

Most of that was time spent scrubbing the compound for information about Al Qaeda and its plans,”   says the story, but the dirty work  was left to Navy Seal Team 6, the stars of both flix

Now,  3 US senators,  “question the accuracy” of at least one of  the  films, Zero Dark Thirty.

You might also question the veracity  of ‘Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden.’

Be that as it may, the US lawmakers are asking  if the CIA misled director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal in its briefings about the hunt for Osama bin Laden, says the CBC, adding:

“SenatorsDianne Feinstein, Carl Levin and John McCain are also stepping up pressure on the CIA to reveal whether coercive techniques, including torture, were effective in securing information in the hunt for the al-Qaeda leader.

Zero Dark Thirty, a fictional drama about the hunt for bin Laden, shows an al-Qaeda figure undergoing waterboarding and other abusive interrogation techniques before eventually providing information that helps him track down.”

And No, Steve Segal wasn’t in either 😉
