Ex-CSIS watchdog now wanted in Quebec

Who’ll  watch the watchers?

arthur porterThe rhetorical question  takes on new emphasis with the news Arthur Porter, the former head of the watchdog agency  tasked to see an eye on  CSIS, Canada’s spy agency is now high on the wanted list.

He’s among five others named in arrest warrants issued Wednesday by Quebec’s anti-corruption squad, in the case of the $1.3-billion construction of a Montreal mega-hospital, says  CTV News.

Also wanted are: former SNC Lavalin senior executives Pierre Duhaime; Riadh Ben Aissa, Yanai Elbaz; and, Jeremy Morris, the administrator of a Bahamas-based investment company.

“The warrants say the men are wanted on numerous charges — including fraud, breach of trust and document forgery,”  says the story, adding.

“They say Porter and Elbaz are wanted under suspicion of having accepted bribes from some of the others.”
